WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM SWEEPS EASTERN NAZARENE
Sept. 22, 2009
Quincy, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Saints easily handled the Eastern Nazarene College Lions in three-straight sets on Tuesday night in the Lahue PE Center on the Eastern Nazarene campus. The Saints recorded their third straight victory, winning 25-12, 25-7 and 25-20, boosting their record to 5-4 on the season. Despite a strong rally in the third set, the Lions were unable to execute the comeback, recording their eleventh loss and extending their losing streak to ten matches.
The Lions struggled to find consistent play, and seemed a step behind the Saints throughout the entire match. The Saints were led by the strong offense of Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) and Megan Murray (Killingworth, Conn.), who combined for 14 kills. Despite 4 kills by Amber Burns (Fall River, Mass.), ENC was unable to match the team play of the Saints. Sophomore setter Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) totaled 18 assists, while Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) and Samantha Andazola (Queen Creek, Ariz.) gathered 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
The Saints will play again this Thursday night at Framingham State College in a non-conference pairing slated to begin at 7pm. Eastern Nazarene will also play again this Thursday, taking on Suffolk University.
