SAINTS SWEPT IN FINAL GNAC TRI-MATCH OF SEASON
BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of tight Great Northeast Athletic Conference matches Saturday afternoon on the Andy Yosinoff Court. The Saints fell to Regis College, 3-1, in the first match of the day before falling to Lasell College, 3-2 in the final match. The Lasers picked up a 3-1 win in the middle third of the GNAC tri.

THE LEAD: The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of tight Great Northeast Athletic Conference matches Saturday afternoon on the Andy Yosinoff Court. The Saints fell to Regis College, 3-1, in the first match of the day before falling to Lasell College, 3-2 in the final match. The Lasers picked up a 3-1 win in the middle third of the GNAC tri.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints came out strong, posting a 25-19 win in the opening set of the day vs. the Pride but Regis responded with three consecutive sets of strong play to come back for the 3-1 win on the match.
- In the middle match, the Lasers took the first two sets before Regis avoided the sweep with a 25-20 third set score before Lasell ultimately finished the match with a 25-19 win in the final frame.
- Emmanuel battled in the final match of the afternoon, falling behind to the Lasers 2-1 before the hosts forced a fifth set with a 25-19 win in the fourth frame. The Saints led 8-4 midway through the final set but saw the Lasers rally for the 15-11 win to take the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Regis sophomore Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) posted 38 kills on the afternoon to lead all players during the tri-match
- Laser outside hitter Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) led Lasell with a combined 34 kills over her two matches.
- Emmanuel sophomore Marissa Cataldo (Melrose, Mass.) finished the day with 31 kills including a match-high 23 winners against Lasell.
- Regis collected 11 aces in the win over Emmanuel.
- Emmanuel had four players with double-figure dig totals in the match vs. Lasell
- The two wins for Lasell was its first tri-match sweep of the 2017 season.
UP NEXT
- The Saints return to action on Thursday, October 26 when they host Framingham State University at 7:00 PM in the program's annual "Dig Pink" match.
- Lasell travels to Bridgewater State University on Tuesday, October 24 while Regis heads to Rivier University on Thursday, October 26.
