EMMANUEL WELL REPRESENTED ON GNAC ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

WINTHROP, Mass. - A total of 822 student-athletes have been named to the 2014-15 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh earlier this week. Emmanuel College was well represented on the list with 109 representatives, a conference-best, making up 13.25% of the GNAC’s Academic All-Conference selections.

CALLAHAN TO PLAY IN NEWVA SENIOR CLASSIC

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior Cara Callahan (Medway, Mass.) has been selected to participate in the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic this Sunday, December 7th. Callahan, one of the tri-captains and a four-year starter on the Saints Women’s Volleyball Team will represent EC and compete in the 2014 NEWVA Senior Classic. The match will be hosted by UMass Boston and is slated to begin at 12:00 PM on Sunday.

2014 WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL SEASON IN REVIEW

BOSTON, Mass. – Following a 5-7 start to the year, the Women’s Volleyball team turned things around going 19-5 the rest of the way to wrap the 2014 season with a 24-12 record including a 10-1 mark and the No. 1 seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

SEALS NAMED GNAC WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL COACH OF THE YEAR; Saints Land four on GNAC All-Conference Team

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College women’s volleyball Head Coach Denitra Seals has been named the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s volleyball Coach of the Year, it was announced by the conference office earlier today. This marks the second consecutive season that Seals has been honored as the conference’s top coach by her peers.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAY-OFF RUN ENDS IN GNAC SEMIFINALS

BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 4 seeded Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University upset the top-seeded Saints of Emmanuel College, 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21) in the semifinal round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Thursday night in Emmanuel’s Jean Yawkey Center. Senior outside hitter Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) slammed down 17 kills to lead the visitors to the upset win and a trip to the GNAC Finals.

SAINTS ADVANCE TO GNAC SEMIS WITH 3-0 WIN OVER LASELL

BOSTON, Mass. – Led by a balanced offensive attack that saw four players record eight kills apiece, No. 1 Emmanuel College powered past No. 8 Lasell College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-19), in the Quarterfinal round of the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s volleyball tournament Tuesday evening in the Jean Yawkey Center gymnasium. With the victory, the Saints improve to 24-11 on the year and have won 12 of their last 14 matches. The loss ends the Lasers season with a 7-28 record.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ENTERS GNAC TOURNAMENT AS TOP SEED

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College has earned the top seed in this week’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Volleyball Tournament. This is the first time since the 2006 season in which the Saints have entered the tourney as the highest seed. The eight-team tournament begins with quarterfinal action this Tuesday evening with matches taking place at the home sites of the four highest seeds.

SAINTS SWEEP GNAC TRI-MATCH ON SENIOR DAY TO CLINCH #1 SEED

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball Team rolled to a pair of three-sets sweeps on senior day, topping Suffolk University, 3-0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-23), before downing Norwich Unviersity, 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-13). In the middle match of the day, Suffolk defeated Norwich, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22). With the two wins, the Saints complete their regular season campaign at 23-11 and 10-1 in GNAC action and Emmanuel has earned the top seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament. The split on the day gives Suffolk a regular-season record of 8-22, 3-8 GNAC. Norwich finishes the regular season at 13-14 overall and 5-6 in GNAC play.

SEAHAWKS SOAR PAST SAINTS, 3-1

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University women’s volleyball team defeated Emmanuel College 3-1 in a non-conference match played on Thursday night inside the Rodgers Recreation Center. Salve Regina took the first set 25-23, before dropping the second 20-25. The Seahawks would win the third set 25-16 and after surrendering a five point lead, would come back to win the fourth and final set 25-22. This was the first home match for the Seahawks to go longer than three sets this season.

SAINTS SNAG TWO MORE WINS IN GNAC TRI-MATCH

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball Team posted the program’s tenth 20+ win season, picking up pair of wins on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match. Emmanuel defeated the host University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-23), before squeaking past Johnson & Wales University, 3-2 (25-19, 15-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-13). With the two wins in USJ’s O’Connell Center, the Saints now stand at 21-10 on the season and 8-1 in GNAC action. In the final match of the day, JWU downed USJ, 3-1, as both the Saints and the Wildcats handed the Blue Jays their first GNAC losses of the season.

SHARKS NIP SAINTS, 3-1, IN DIG PINK MATCH

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College suffered a 3-1 setback at the hands of neighboring Simmons College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s volleyball match played in Emmanuel’s Jean Yawkey Center on Thursday night. With the victory, Simmons improves to 9-13 on the season and 7-2 in GNAC action, while handing the Saints their first conference loss of the season. Emmanuel now stands at 19-10 overall and 6-1 in league play.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL STAYS HOT WITH 3-0 WIN OVER FRAMINGHAM

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) victory over Framingham State University Tuesday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. With the win, the Saints improve to 19-9 on the year and extend their winning streak to seven while the loss drops the Rams to 19-9.

VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS STREAK WITH 3-0 WIN AT LASELL

NEWTON, Mass. – Sophomore Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) hit .692 to lead the Emmanuel Women’s Volleyball Team to a 3-0 sweep of Lasell College on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Saints extend their win streak to six matches and improve to 18-9 on the season and 6-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The loss dropped the host Lasers to 4-24 on the season and 1-5 in the league.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL DOWNS RIVIER, ST. JOE’S IN GNAC TRI-MATCH

STANDISH, Maine – The Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball Team battled to a pair of wins over Rivier University and Saint Joseph’s College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match played on the campus of St. Joseph’s College on Saturday afternoon. With the two victories, the Saints extend their winning streak to five matches, as they remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0 and improve to 17-9 on the season.

SAINTS ERASE EARLY DEFICIT IN 3-1 WIN OVER LESLEY

BOSTON, Mass. – After falling in the opening set 25-23, the Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball team regrouped to win the next three sets en route to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-23, 25-17) non-conference victory over Lesley University Thursday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center. The Saints improve to 15-9 on the year while the loss drops the Lynx to 8-3 overall.

SAINTS SWEEP ALBERTUS MAGNUS TRI-MATCH

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team continued to roll with two more victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating City College of New York (3-0) and Albertus Magnus College (3-0). With the wins, the Saints improve to 14-9 overall and the conference win over Albertus keeps the Saints perfect at 3-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.
