RAMIREZ-TEJEDA & KIESELBACK GARNER GNAC WEEKLY HONORS
BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College junior outfielder Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week and senior pitcher Megan Kieselback (Wethersfield, Conn.) has been named the GNAC Pitcher of the Week and, it was announced by the conference office on Monday, April 29.
BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College junior outfielder Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week and senior pitcher Megan Kieselback (Wethersfield, Conn.) has been named the GNAC Pitcher of the Week and, it was announced by the conference office on Monday, April 29.
Ramirez-Tejeda earns GNAC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career in Softball after earning the honor five times in Women's Basketball. The multisport standout closed out the regular-season with a monster week, batting .611 (11-for-18) with 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored. The junior belted seven extra base hits including four home runs, highlighted by a game-tying grand slam in the seventh inning of a 12-10 come-from-behind victory over JWU. On the week, she slugged a gaudy 1.444 while posted a .632 on base percentage, adding three stolen bases and a walk in a 6-0 week for Emmanuel.
On the season, Ramirez-Tejeda is batting .398 with 32 RBI and 30 runs scored. She leads the GNAC and set a new Emmanuel single-season record with 10 home runs and leads the conference with an .852 slugging percentage.
In her two years with the program, Ramirez-Tejeda has a .384 career average with 57 RBI, 54 runs scored and 32 extra base hits including 17 homers.
Kieselback earns GNAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after posting a 3-0 record on the week in the circle, earning two complete-game shutout GNAC wins over Saint Joseph's (ME) and Anna Maria, both one-hitters. The senior combined for 19 strikeouts over 19 innings of work while posting a 0.37 ERA and holding opponents to a .109 batting average.
On the year, Kieselback has tossed 102 innings and compiled a 11-5 record to go along with one save. She currently leads the GNAC with 103 strikeouts averaging 7.7 K's per seven.
Over her career, the Wethersfield, Conn. native has registered 29 victories and 290 strikeouts, to rank second in program history in both categories.
The Saints return to action later this week in the GNAC Tournament as the #1 seed in the North Division. Emmanuel will play on Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 PM. For the entire GNAC Tournament schedule, see below:
