SOFTBALL DROPS TWO IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION TO WHEATON
NORTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College softball team dropped a pair of one-run non-conference decisions to Wheaton College on Tuesday afternoon in Norton, Mass. The Saints fell in Game 1 by a 7-6 score to snap their program-best nine-game winning streak before falling to the Lyons in Game 2, 1-0, in a six-inning game shortened by darkness.

THE LEAD: The Emmanuel College softball team dropped a pair of one-run non-conference decisions to Wheaton College on Tuesday afternoon in Norton, Mass. The Saints fell in Game 1 by a 7-6 score to snap their program-best nine-game winning streak before falling to the Lyons in Game 2, 1-0, in a six-inning game shortened by darkness.
GAME ONE: Wheaton 7 - Emmanuel 6

THE RUNDOWN:
- The Wheaton College softball team returned to Clark Softball Field Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader against Emmanuel, which saw the Lyons earn a 7-6 win in the opening contest.
- Seven players accounted for each of the Lyons hits, with Katelyn Barton finishing 1-for-3 with two-RBI and a walk.
- Senior Shelbi Wilson picked up her ninth win of the season in her sixth complete game, giving up all six Saint runs on 10 hits, while striking out four and walking two.
- Olivai Burgos picked up the complete game loss for Emmanuel after surrendering seven runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking one. Burgos also ended the day 2-for-3 from the plate with a walk and an RBI, while coming around to score twice.
- Wheaton started the game in grand fashion with Barton leading off the first inning with a solo home run. The home run is the second of the season for the first year. Lindsay Whittles picked up an RBI later in the inning with a sacrifice fly to left that scored Hannah Arkin, who followed Barton with a triple to right center.
- Two more runs in the second inning handed Wheaton a 4-0 lead with Riley Benedetto picking up an RBI on a single to left, followed by a sac fly from Barton moments later.
- Emmanuel cut the deficit in half in the top of the third with an RBI double to left from Casey Sheehan, but the Lyons countered in the home half of the inning with a solo home run from Jade Assad.
- After a scoreless fourth inning, the Saints plated a run in the top of the fifth with a double down the left field line from Renae Lacroix that scored Burgos. Wheaton earned two runs back in their half of the inning with a double up the middle that brought in Assad and Barton.
- The Saints plated three runs on three hits in the top of the sixth, pulling within a run of the Lyons, but were unable to find the tying run in the seventh.

THE RUNDOWN:
- One run was the difference in the second game of the day with the contest being called in the sixth inning due to darkness.
- Sarah Pritchard picked up her eighth win of the season after surrendering just two hits and striking out three. Mikaela Montemagni collected the loss for the Saints.
- The games only run came in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to left center from Arkin that scored Lilly Laganiere who pinch ran for Tristan Keller. Keller led off the inning with a walk.
- Emmanuel got hits from senior Audrey Esakoff and junior Sarah Hoisl.
