NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team posted a 15-5 Great Northeast Athletic Conference road victory over Norwich University Wednesday evening on Sabine Field.
Freshman Jessica Borduas (Woodbury, Conn.) netted a game-high four goals while junior Kylie Rice (Bethleham, Conn.) added five points on a goal and four assists to power the offensive attack.
Emmanuel came out and established control with four straight goals to start the action, as Emily Schromm (North Attleboro, Massachusetts) managed to stymie the Saints momentum for just a moment with her 22nd goal of the season. The Saints couldn't be stopped, however, as they outscored Norwich 6-1 the rest of the way to take a 10-2 lead into the halftime break. Norwich put together a more cohesive attack in the final stanza, but it wasn't enough to close the gap and Emmanuel walked away with the 15-5 victory
Freshman Chandra Franca (Woburn, Mass.) added three goals for the Saints while sophomores Aisling Butler (Westfield, Mass.) and Elizabeth Fortier (Newburyport, Mass.) each scored twice in the win.
Senior Bethany Bonilla-Colon (Milton, Mass.) played well to earn the win in goal, making 12 saves on 17 shots on goal for a season-best .706 single-game save percentage.
Michaila Furchak (Nyack, N.Y.) tallied a pair of goals to lead the Norwich offense, while Schromm, Brynn Mendes (Centerville, Mass.), and Brittney Poljacik (Woodstock, Vt.) rounded out the score sheet. Kate Winstanley (Lansdale, Pa.) made nine saves in her debut in goal for the Cadets.
Emmanuel improves to 5-6 overall and 4-4 in GNAC action while the Cadets fall to 5-7 with the loss and 3-6 within the GNAC. Both teams are idle until Monday afternoon when NU hosts New England College for a 4:00 non-conference tilt and Emmanuel travels to Dudley, Mass. to face Nichols College at 5:00 PM.
