PARADIS POWERS WENTWORTH OVER WOMEN'S LACROSSE IN 2018 OPENER
BOSTON, Mass. - Junior midfielder Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) scored a career-high eight goals to power the Wentworth Institute of Technology women’s lacrosse team past host Emmanuel College, 14-8, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Roberto Clemente Field. During the action, Paradis also scored her 100th career goal with the Leopards to become the first player in program history to reach the milestone.

During the action, Paradis also scored her 100th career goal with the Leopards to become the first player in program history to reach the milestone.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints opened the game with three early goals with scores from sophomore Kylie Rice (Bethlehem, Conn.), junior Andrea Liddell (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Allison Hutchings (Billerica, Mass.) to take a 3-1 lead. All the scores came on free position shots.
- Leading 3-1, the Saints surrendered five straight goals to Wentworth as freshman Emily Rogers (Pembroke, Mass.) scored back-to-back unassisted markers to even the score at 3-3 before Paradis netted three straight goals to bump the visitors on top, 6-3 with 5:48 to play in the opening half.
- Emmanuel cut the lead to 6-4 before the half ended as Hutchings scored her second goal of the action with 2:36 to play but the score would remain a two-goal game heading into the break.
- Paradis opened the second stanza scoring with her fifth goal of the afternoon, marking her 100th career goal at Wentworth, to make it a 7-4 contest just 48 seconds into the half.
- Paradis bumped the lead to 8-4 with her sixth tally of the day before EC senior Sophia White (Monterey, Calif.) and Rice answered with consecutive scores to pull Emmanuel back within two at 8-6 with less than 20 minutes to play.
- Over the next four minutes of play, Wentworth rattled off four straight goals with Paradis netting a pair while Rogers and junior middle Leah Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) added scores to account for the 12-6 score.
- Over the final 12 minutes, the squads traded goals with Emmanuel scores from senior Stephanie Warn (Hanson, Mass.) and freshman Elizabeth Fortier (Newburyport, Mass.) while WIT scores came from sophomores Kaitlyn Darveau (South China, Maine) and Julie Dam (Milford, Mass.) to round of the 14-8 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Leopards edged the Saints in shots by a 39-20 margin as Paradis attempted 17 shots on her own.
- The Saints struggled on the clear attempts, converting on just 16 of 30 opportunities compared to 14 of 19 converted by Wentworth.
- Both teams scored a player-down goal in the action while the first goal of the action for WIT by Paradis was a player-up score.
- EC junior goalie Bethany Bonilla (Milton, Mass.) made 11 saves in the loss, and falls to 0-1 on the year.
- WIT junior keeper Liz Gunning (Northport, N.Y.) made eight saves to improve to 1-1 in net for the Leopards.
