SALEM STATE DROPS WOMEN'S LACROSSE IN 3OT THRILLER, 14-13
Salem, Mass. – Courtney Smith (Peabody, Mass.) scored seven goals and Chelsea Smith (Tewksbury, Mass.) netted the game-winner with 01:39 remaining in the third overtime as Salem state edged Emmanuel 14-13 on Thursday evening at Alumni Field.

Salem State never led in the game, fighting back to force overtime with just 00:14 second left in regulation. The Vikings improve to 4-8 while the Saints go to 4-8.
Andrea Liddell (Weymouth, Mass.) scored the first of four consecutive goals as Emmanuel raced out to a 4-0 lead. Emily Baker (Stratham, Mass.) and Amanda Cook (Saco, Maine) each potted scores before Liddell added her second.
Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, N.Y.) broke the string for Salem State as the Vikings climbed right back into the game. Courtney Smith (Peabody, Mass.), who had five first half goals, cut the deficit to 4-2 before Cook pushed the margin back to three goals.
Courtney Smith drew Salem State to within a goal with back-to-back scores, including a free position goal, However, Cook struck for the hat-trick making the score 6-4 in favor of the Saints. Courtney Smith and Baker exchanged goals before Courtney Smith's fourth goal pulled Salem State to within 7-6 with 4:10 remaining in the half.
Carolyn Woodin (Arlington, Mass.) tied the game for the Vikings, but two late goals by Allison Hutchings (Billerica, Mass.) and Kylie Rice (Bethlehem, Conn.) gave Emmanuel a 9-7 halftime lead.
Woodin opened the scoring with a goal in the second half, but Cook and Rice teamed up to make the score 11-8 in favor of the Saints with 22:10 remaining. Chelsea Smith scored the first of her two second half goals, pulling the Vikings to within a point.
Trailing 12-11, Courtney Smith evened the game for Salem State, but Baker temporarily gave the lead back to Emmanuel at 13-12.
With the game seemingly in hand, Bridget Lawless (Swampscott, Mass.) stunned the Saints with a goal with 00:14 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Emmanuel controlled play in the first overtime, but could not find the back of the net. In the third overtime Salem State took advantage of a turnover caused by Woodin, setting up Chelsea Smith's game–winning score.
Chelsea Smith finished with three goals while Woodin had two goals and seven caused turnovers for the Vikings. Cook netted four goals and Baker contributed three goals and four assists for the Saints.
Karlie McLear (Paxton, Mass.) had nine saves in the win. Bethany Bonilla–Colon (Milton, Mass.) made 15 saves in the loss.
