Prior to the start of Emmanuel's 3:00 PM contest on Saturday, the College will be honoring longtime Head Coach Andy Yosinoff with a floor-naming ceremony. The court will official be known as the Andy Yosinoff Court in dedication to Yosinoff's 40 years of coaching and commitment to the institution.
Over his career with the Saints, Yosinoff has compiled 768 victories to rank first among all active Divison III Women's Basketball coaches and second all-time. He's led the program to 18 NCAA tournament appearances including a trip to the Final Four in 2001 as well as 16 Great Northeast Athletic Conference championships. Coach Yosinoff has been named the GNAC Coach of the Year several times while also earning the Jewish Coaches' Association Red Auerbach Award in 2012 presented to the National Jewish Coach of the Year. He's been inducted into several Hall of Fames including the New England Basketball HOF, Rhode Island College Athletic HOF, Great Northeaster Athletic Conference HOF and the Emmanuel College Athletic HOF.
"This is a tremendous honor which I am so excited to share not only with my 98-year old father, but all my former players who made this day possible," said Yosinoff. "This event is a culmination of my 40 years at Emmanuel and is so exciting to be able to share it with all the great players, trainers, coaches and faculty members that have been able to work with me over the years."
It is estimated that over 100 alumnae will be in attendance for the ceremony in which President Sister Janet Eisner, SND, will do the honors of enshrining the court in Andy's name.
"I'm looking forward to seeing so many of my friends who have supported me throughout my career including five of my college teammates and our coach from the 1970 undefeated University of Rhode Island Tennis team, plus all my friends from Longwood Cricket Club," said Yosinoff.
Tickets for the Tip-Off Classic will be available at the door for $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children with a weekend pass option available for $6.00/$3.00.
