SAINTS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT

The Emmanuel College Athletic Department hosted its Annual Awards Night and Dessert Reception last weekend, celebrating the Saints success during the 2012-2013 athletic seasons. Student-athletes, coaches, supportive families and fans filled the gymnasium of Emmanuel's Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday evening, April 27th, for the annual athletic recognition night. The event featured award presentations by the head coaches of each of Emmanuel's varsity programs and spirit teams, as well as major award presentations by Saints staff and administrators. Emmanuel's food service division, Bon Appetit, provided a delectable buffet of dessert selections for all of the attendees.

2012-13 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON IN REVIEW

BOSTON, Mass. – For the seventh consecutive season, the Emmanuel College women’s basketball team captured the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament championship en route to an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball tournament. Propelled by All-American senior forward Fiona O’Dwyer (Stamford, Conn.), the Saints posted a 23-6 overall record including a perfect 12-0 mark in GNAC play. Along the way, Emmanuel head coach Andy Yosinoff captured his 700th career coaching victory, making him just the third coach in New England to reach the milestone.

O’DWYER TABBED WOMEN’S HOOP ALL-AMERICAN

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior Fiona O’Dwyer recently received several post-season honors, including being named a D3hoops.com 3rd Team All-American. O’Dwyer’s 3rd Team honor came on the heels of being selected one of five D3hoops 1st Team All-Northeast Region players. Additionally, O’Dwyer was voted an Honorable Mention All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

EMMANUEL’S O’DWYER NAMED ECAC BASKETBALL ALL-STAR

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2012-13 Women’s Basketball All-Star Teams on Thursday afternoon. Emmanuel College’s senior forward Fiona O’Dwyer was among the ten honorees from the New England region.

YOSINOFF INDUCTED TO URI ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – Emmanuel College’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Associate Director of Athletics, Andy Yosinoff, can add yet another prestigious honor to his resume. Yosinoff was recently inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame of his alma mater, the University of Rhode Island. A 1970 graduate of URI, Yosinoff was a standout on the Rams Men’s Tennis Team, before his reign as the head coach of the perennially powerful Emmanuel Saints Women’s Basketball Team.

SAINTS FALL TO ROCHESTER IN NCAA HEARTBREAKER, 70-66

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Basketball Team suffered a heart-breaking 70-66 loss to the University of Rochester on Friday night in the opening round of the NCAA Regional. The battle featured seven lead changes and eight ties, before the host Yellowjackets nipped the Saints to advance in the national tournament. Emmanuel will close out the season with an overall record of 23-6. Rochester will play Williams College in Saturday’s Regional Final at the Palestra.

O’DWYER, BENVENUTO, BUJNOWSKI RECEIVE ALL-GNAC HONORS

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released its 2013 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams and Emmanuel College led the way with three honorees, including the GNAC Player of the Year. After leading the Saints to an undefeated 12-0 mark in GNAC regular-season action and the program’s seventh-straight GNAC title, Fiona O’Dwyer (Stamford, Conn.), Laura Benvenuto (Wyckoff, N.J.) and Jennifer Bujnowski (Salem, N.H.) were voted All-GNAC by the 13 conference coaches. O’Dwyer was deservingly named the 2013 GNAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.

SAINTS TO FACE UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER IN NCAA TOURNAMENT

The NCAA released the 2013 Division III Women’s Basketball Bracket on Monday afternoon. The Emmanuel College Saints are slated to face the University of Rochester Yellowjackets in Rochester, New York this Friday, March 1st.

EMMANUEL PUNCHES TICKET TO BIG DANCE WITH 7th-STRAIGHT GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP

BOSTON, Mass. – The top-seeded Emmanuel College Women’s Basketball Team won the program’s seventh-straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 2 Suffolk University, 68-45, in the Jean Yawkey Center. Emmanuel (23-5) will now advance with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament next Friday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADVANCES TO GNAC FINALS WITH 72-48 VICTORY OVER ALBERTUS MAGNUS

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s basketball team used a balanced offensive attack to down Albertus Magnus College, 72-48, Thursday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament Semifinals. With the win, EC improves to 22-5 overall and will advance to the GNAC Championship game on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM against Suffolk University. The Falcons fall to 20-7 on the year.

EMMANUEL ADVANCES WITH 74-60 QUARTERFINAL WIN OVER USJ

BOSTON, Mass. – The top-seeded Emmanuel College Saints defeated 8th-seeded University of Saint Joseph, 74-60, in the quarterfinal round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Basketball Tournament. With the win, Emmanuel improves to 21-5 on the season and the Saints will advance to host a GNAC semifinal game on Thursday night. USJ ends the year at 14-11 overall.

SAINTS CLINCH TOP SEED IN GNAC TOURNEY WITH 56-35 WIN OVER SUFFOLK

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College clinched the top seed in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament with a 56-35 win over Suffolk University in a GNAC women’s basketball battle played in Emmanuel’s Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Saints have now put together their 13th-straight twenty-win season, improving to 20-5 this year. Emmanuel ran the table with their third-straight unbeaten GNAC season at 12-0. Suffolk dropped to 19-6 on the season and 10-2 in the league with the loss.

EMMANUEL DOWNS SAINT JOSEPH, 71-40, IN PLAY4KAY CONTEST

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College eased past the University of Saint Joseph, 71-40, in women’s basketball action played in Emmanuel’s Jean Yawkey Center on Tuesday night. The win stretched the Saints’ four-year conference unbeaten streak to 40 games, as they now hold a 19-5 overall record and an 11-0 mark in GNAC play this season. Saint Joseph dropped to 13-9 on the season and 5-5 in the league with the loss.

STRONG SECOND HALF LIFTS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL OVER RIVIER, 65-58

Nashua, NH - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team overcame a 12 point halftime deficit to defeat Rivier University, 65-58, Sunday afternoon at the Muldoon Center in Nashua, N.H. The Saints, who improves to 18-5 overall and a perfect 10-0 in the GNAC, were led by Fiona O’Dwyer and Jennifer Bujnowski.

SAINTS TRUMP SHARKS IN FENWAY RIVALRY

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Saints took care of neighboring Simmons College, 66-31 in a Colleges of the Fenway (COF) neighborhood matchup Tuesday evening. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action was played in Simmons’ Holmes Sports Center, as the visiting Saints improved to 17-5 on the year and a perfect 9-0 in league play. Simmons dropped to 4-15 overall and 2-7 in GNAC action.

STRONG SECOND HALF PROPELS SAINTS TO 55-47 WIN OVER MONKS

STANDISH, Me. – Emmanuel College (16-5, 8-0 GNAC) defeated Saint Joseph’s College (12-9, 6-3 GNAC), 55-47, in a rematch of the 2012 GNAC Women’s Basketball Championship at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon. Senior forward Fiona O’Dwyer (Stamford, Conn.) recorded a double-double in the win for the Saints. Freshman center Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) scored a game-high 18 points in a losing effort.
