EMMANUEL WELL REPRESENTED ON GNAC ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

WINTHROP, Mass. - A total of 822 student-athletes have been named to the 2014-15 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh earlier this week. Emmanuel College was well represented on the list with 109 representatives, a conference-best, making up 13.25% of the GNAC’s Academic All-Conference selections.

SAINTS HOST ANNUAL ATHLETIC AWARDS NIGHT

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Athletic Department hosted its Annual Athletic Awards Night and Dessert Reception on Saturday, April 25th, celebrating the Saints’ success during the 2014-2015 athletic seasons. Student-athletes, coaches, supportive families and fans filled the gymnasium of Emmanuel's Jean Yawkey Center for the annual athletic recognition night.

2015 MEN’S VOLLEYBALL SEASON IN REVIEW

BOSTON, Mass. – With first-year head coach Bori May at the reigns, the Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team wrapped the 2015 season with an overall record of 11-12. Despite advancing to the GNAC Semifinals, the Saints finish the year with a below .500 record for just the third time in the program’s 13 year history and the first time since 2008 (14-15).

JACKSON, BAXLEY & WHITERMORE NAMED TO GNAC MEN’S VOLLEYBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior outside hitter Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.), senior setter Sean Baxley (Saint James, N.Y.) and senior outside hitter Zach Whitermore (Whitehall, Pa.) have been named to the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Volleyball All-Conference team as announced by the conference office earlier today. Jackson was tabbed to the GNAC First Team, Baxley to the GNAC Second Team and Whitermore to the GNAC Third Team.

SAINTS STOPPED BY RIVIER IN MEN’S VOLLEYBALL SEMIFINALS

NASHUA, N.H. – No. 4-seeded Emmanuel College fell to top-seeded Rivier University, 3-0, in the semifinal round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament on Thursday night in Rivier’s Muldoon Center. With the win, the Raiders improve to 19-8 overall and advance to host Lasell College in the GNAC Championship on Saturday. The visiting Saints end their season at 11-12 overall.

WINGARD POWERS SAINTS INTO GNAC SEMIFINALS WITH 3-0 WIN OVER JWU

BOSTON, Mass. – No. 4 seeded Emmanuel College swept No. 5 Johnson & Wales University, 3-0, in the opening round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday night. The battle in Emmanuel’s Jean Yawkey Center featured a pair of closely matched teams, who had split during the regular season. The host Saints used a 25-21, 25-22 and 25-22 victory to improve to 11-11 on the season and advance to the GNAC semifinal round this Thursday night. Johnson & Wales dropped to 20-11 on the season with the loss.

JACKSON NAMED GNAC MEN’S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior outside hitter Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon. This marks the third time in his career that he’s been tabbed the conference Player of the Week, also earning the honor once as a freshman and once as a junior.

VOLLEYBALL TEAM WRAPS REGULAR SEASON WITH TRI-MATCH SWEEP

NEWTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s Volleyball Team clinched the right to a home match in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament by sweeping a conference tri-match to close out the regular season. The Saints rolled to 3-1 wins over both Johnson & Wales University and host Mount Ida College on Saturday afternoon. With the pair of victories, Emmanuel finished regular season play at 10-11 overall and in fourth place in the GNAC standings at 8-6 among conference opponents.

No. 6 SPRINGFIELD TOPS MEN’S VOLLEYBALL, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Springfield College men’s volleyball team combined to hit .470 en route to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-20) victory over host Emmanuel College on Wednesday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. With the victory, the Pride who received 163 votes for a No. 6 ranking in the most recent AVCA D-III Men’s Volleyball Coaches Poll, improve to 18-6 overall while the loss drops the Saints to 8-11 on the year.

SAINTS TOP LASELL, 3-2, IN KEY GNAC BATTLE

NEWTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel Saints battled through their fourth 5-setter in the past five contests, taking a crucial 3-2 win over Lasell College on Tuesday night. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s volleyball battle, resulted in EC improving to 8-10 on the season and an even 6-6 in GNAC action. The loss drops the Lasers to 19-8 overall and 7-4 in conference play.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL DOWNS ALBERTUS MAGNUS, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-15) victory over Albertus Magnus College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action in the Jean Yawkey Center. The Saints improve to 7-9 overall and 5-5 in GNAC play while the loss dips the Falcons to 3-11 and 2-8 in the GNAC.

COMEBACK FALLS SHORT FOR MEN’S VOLLEYBALL IN 3-2 SETBACK TO RIVIER

BOSTON, Mass. – The Rivier University men’s volleyball team prevailed over Emmanuel College, 3-2 (25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 15-11), despite a valiant comeback by the host Saints who battled in the team’s third five-set thriller over the last five days. The Raiders remain atop the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with a 10-1 GNAC slate, improving to 15-9 overall while the loss drops the Saints to 7-10 overall and 5-6 in GNAC action.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL COMEBACK FALLS SHORT IN 3-2 LOSS TO JWU

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - JWU senior J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) set a new Johnson & Wales career record for set assists in a thrilling 3-2 (25-17, 25-23, 18-25, 23-25, 15-12) win over Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Wildcat Center on Thursday night.

SAINTS BATTLE BACK TO NIP NO. 14 WENTWORTH, 3-2

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College pulled off a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s volleyball action played in the Jean Yawkey Center on Tuesday night. The Saints improve to 6-8 on the season and an even 4-4 in GNAC play with the win. The Leopards, who were ranked 14th in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll, saw their five-match win streak come to an end and drop to 18-5 overall and 7-2 in the conference with the loss.

EMERSON PULLS OFF FIRST-EVER WIN OVER MEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emerson College Men's Volleyball Team pulled off a shocking sweep over the visiting Emmanuel Saints on Saturday morning in Emerson’s Brown and Plofker Gymnasium. The 3-0 victory came via set scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-22 and boosted Emerson’s ledger to 10-7 overall and 3-4 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The loss drops the Saints to 5-8 on the season and 3-4 in league action.

ENGINEERS TOP SAINTS IN LOCAL MEN'S VOLLEYBALL RIVALRY

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s volleyball team defeated Emmanuel College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22), on Wednesday night. Senior Alex Klein (San Diego, Calif.) compiled 12 kills, six digs, and four blocks for the Engineers (15-9), while senior Zach Whitermore (Whitehall, Pa.) paced the Saints (5-7) with 12 kills and eight digs.
