SAINTS STRETCH GNAC WIN STREAK TO SIX MATCHES
NEWTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Saints rolled to a three-set sweep of Mount Ida College on Thursday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Volleyball action. The Saints took the three sets with decisive scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-15. Emmanuel now stands at 13-12 overall and the Saints improve to 8-1 in GNAC action with the win. This was the Saints’ sixth-straight conference win. The host Mustangs dropped to 5-19 on the season and 1-10 in the league with the loss.

As a team, the visiting Saints hit very well, swinging to a .324 hitting percentage with 34 kills in 68 swings. Sophomore Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.) led Emmanuel with 7 kills in 11 total attacks. Sophomores Wyatt Cooper (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Austin Cockerill (Darien, Conn.) each smashed down 6 kills, while hitting .500 for the match.
Senior setter Nick Updike ran the show with a match-high 28 assists, while firing off a season-high 6 service aces in the win. Sophomore Cody Diehl (Derry, N.H.) led the Emmanuel defense with 5 digs, while Julian Hess (Santa Monica, Calif.) tallied 3 solo blocks for the Saints.
Emmanuel will play host to a GNAC tri-match on Saturday, March 30th. The Saints will take on Albertus Magnus College at 12:00 PM. Albertus will then face Rivier University in the 2:00 PM match. Emmanuel is slated to take on Rivier in the final match of the day. Senior captain Nick Updike will be honored prior to the start of the afternoon's third match.
