Ferrarini & Erskine Garner GNAC Weekly Honors
WINTRHOP, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior Jonathan Ferrarini (Hanover, Mass.) and sophomore Alec Erskine (Coventry, Conn.) were recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the GNAC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
WINTRHOP, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior Jonathan Ferrarini (Hanover, Mass.) and sophomore Alec Erskine (Coventry, Conn.) were recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the GNAC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Ferrarini earns GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the fifth time in his career after a perfect week between the pipes for the Saints. The senior captain posted a 0.00 goals against average over 180 minutes of work, posting two shutout victories in non-conference action. Ferrarini opened the week with a four-save outing in a 2-0 victory over Fitchburg State University before posting five saves in a 4-0 victory over Bridgewater State University.
On the year, the Hanover, Mass. native has registered a 2-1 record in net with a 0.67 goals against average and an impressive .889 save percentage.
For his career, Ferrarini now has 18 victories to rank tied for second all-time in the EC record books while his 11 career clean sheets to rank third all-time.
Erskine becomes the first Emmanuel player to be named the GNAC Rookie of the Week this season after having two players recognized last year for the honor (Campbell Shealy, Vincent Conelli). Erskine played a huge part in the Saints success, netting three goals including two game-winners.
Erskine has scored in all three contests this year, leading the squad with four goals while ranking third in the GNAC.
Emmanuel is currently 2-1 on the season and returns to action on Thursday, September 12 when they travel to Danbury, Conn. for a non-conference contest against Western Connecticut State University at 7:00 PM.
