Joe Purdon joined the Emmanuel College athletic department in the fall of 2019 and takes over the Defensive Coordinator responsibilities for the Men's Lacrosse program

Purdon attended Keene State College and played four seasons on their varsity program, accumulating a career record of 48-19 including a 27-1 slate in the Little East Conference during regular-season play. Keene advanced to the LEC championship game all four seasons on Purdon's career, advancing to the NCAA tournament as LEC champs in both 2011 and 2014. He was named a captain of the Owls during his senior season.

He brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Saints having served as an Assistant Coach for the Primetime Penguins youth program out of Natick, Mass., the Varsity Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Wellesley High School and the Head Boys Lacrosse Coach at Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

"Coach Purdon brings a very diverse and strong background to the coaching staff," said Head Coach Trevor Craven. "Having learned and played the game for Coaches like Coach Shairer in Wrentham (MA) and Coach Theriault at Keene State, I know he is going to bring a fundamental blue collar approach to our program."

Purdon works full-time in finance and resides in Newton, Mass.
