MIT HANGS ON FOR 16-10 WIN OVER MEN’S LACROSSE
BOSTON, Mass. – The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Men’s Lacrosse Team extended its win streak to three games with a 16-10 victory over Emmanuel College on Thursday night at Roberto Clemente Field. The Engineers were powered by four goals and two assists from senior attack Harris Stolzenberg (Weston, Fla.) and MIT improved to 4-2 on the season. The non-conference loss dropped the host Saints to 1-5 on the year.

The Engineers were powered by four goals and two assists from senior attack Harris Stolzenberg (Weston, Fla.) and MIT improved to 4-2 on the season. The non-conference loss dropped the host Saints to 1-5 on the year.
In addition to the six points from Stolzenberg, the Engineers got hat-tricks from a trio of players, including rookie Jack Strachan (Moresville, N.C.) and juniors Graham Davis (Crofton, Md.) and Mitch Turley (Westfield, Ind.). Jack Kelly (Milford, Del.), Michael Traub (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) and Jonathan Monahemi (Great Neck, N.Y.) chipped in with a goal apiece for MIT in the win.
The Saints were led by a six-point outing from junior middie Charlie Moran (Maitland, Fla.), who netted four goals and dished out two helpers. Senior captains Tony Cibelli (Westboro, Mass.) and Donnie Litzelman (Stratham, N.H.) added two goals apiece, while Andrew Griffin (Arlington, Mass.) and Sean Reilly (Deer Park, N.Y.) each scored once in the effort.
With Cibelli netting his second goal of the night, the Saints trailed just 13-10 with 5:50 remaining in the game. MIT would rattle off a goal with 5:08 to go, before netting two quick ones with under a minute left to pull ahead for the 16-10 victory.
MIT held a solid shooting advantage, firing off 47 shots, to just 30 by the Saints. The visitors also earned a 26-23 edge in groundballs and forced the Saints into 22 turnovers. Emmanuel won 18-31 face offs, with junior Michael Sousa (Cranston, R.I.) picking up a game-high nine ground balls for the Saints.
Sophomore goalie Alexander Lynch (Roswell, Ga.) notched seven saves, earning his fourth win of the season for MIT and improving to 4-1 on the season. Junior Austin Rosenberg (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) took the loss for the Saints, but made 18 saves in the effort.
Emmanuel will take the weekend off and return to action next Tuesday (3/28), when the Saints host UMass Dartmouth in a 7:00pm start. MIT will head west to take on Colorado College next Tuesday over their spring break.
