SAINTS ROLL TO 11-4 WIN AT JWU
PROVIDNCE, R.I. – The Emmanuel College Saints rolled to their seventh-consecutive victory on Tuesday evening with an 11-4 win over Johnson & Wales University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s lacrosse action played at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex. The win boosts EC to 7-3 on the season and keeps the Saints unbeaten in conference play at 5-0. The Wildcats, competing in their first season of varsity competition, fell to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in the GNAC.

The win boosts EC to 7-3 on the season and keeps the Saints unbeaten in conference play at 5-0. The Wildcats, competing in their first season of varsity competition, fell to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in the GNAC.
Sophomore Kaile MacLean-Daley (Moretown, Vt.) tallied four goals in the win for Emmanuel while junior Ryan Sabuda (Indianapolis, Ind.) notched two goals and two assists for the Saints in the victory.
Junior Damian Bandereck (Topsfield, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals for Johnson & Wales, while sophomore Chris Macchi (Hastings-On-Hudson, N.Y.) had a goal and an assist in the setback for the Wildcats.
Emmanuel struck first when a goal by sophomore Michael Rogers (New Haven, Conn.) just thirty seconds into the game gave the Saints the 1-0. Emmanuel made the score 2-0 on a goal by sophomore Justin Kelly (Collegeville, Pa.) with 11:37 left in the first quarter. JWU responded and cut the lead to 2-1 on an unassisted tally by senior Keegan Donaher (Chelmsford, Mass.) with 11:10 on the clock in the opening stanza. The Wildcats then knotted the game at 2-2 when Macchi put in a pass from sophomore Tyler Thompson (West Chester, Pa.) with 3:28 left in the first. MacLean-Daley's first goal of the game with 6:12 left in the second period was the only goal of the period as Emmanuel took the 3-2 lead heading into halftime.
Emmanuel outscored Johnson & Wales by a 5-0 margin in the third quarter, including three goals from Maclean-Daley to take an 8-2 lead. Bandereck scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough as Emmanuel held on for the 11-4 victory.
Senior Mike Russo (Chelmsford, Mass.) tallied 13 saves in the loss for the Johnson & Wales, while junior Austin Lauzier (Bedford, N.H.) had eight stops for Emmanuel.
The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, April 5th when they travel to Regis for a non-conference contest at 1:00 PM. Emmanuel plays at home this Friday night, April 4th, when the Saints host Mount Ida College in a 7:00 PM start.
