TRACK & FIELD WRAPS REGULAR SEASON AT BROWN SPRINGTIME INVITE

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams wrapped up the 2010 regular season by competing at the Brown University Springtime Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The competition was dominated by several Division I and II teams, but the Saints represented very well as one of the only Division III colleges in the meet. The Emmanuel men's and women's 4x400 meter relay teams finished 3rd and 4th, respectively, while five program records fell and three New England Division III qualifying marks were improved upon.
On the men's side, Andrew Heath, Wesley Cowles, Jordan Coulombe and Ben Cleveland combined to run a 3:40.49 race and finished 3rd in the men's 4x400 meter relay. The women's team, which consisted of Katasi Kulubya, Julie Young, Nathalie Victoria and Brittany Sorice posted a program record time of 4:14.74 in the same race. The women placed 4th overall and qualified for the New England Division III Championships.
Two program records fell in the 3k race as well. Sophomore Maurizio Turco ran 6th overall with a school record time of 9:32.23. Freshman Joslyn DelSignore ran a program best 12:18.89 in the women's 3k. Classmate Alen Smajic also ran his personal best in the race with a time of 10:18.70.
The men's 400 meter event featured 5th and 6th place finishes by Andrew Heath and Ben Cleveland, who both ran the race in 51.05. The women got another New England Division III qualifying mark from Sorice, who ran the 400 meters in a personal best time of 62.22. Alison Lynch also set a personal record in the race with a time of 67.32.
Personal records were set by Wesley Cowles and Turco in the 800 meters. Cowles finished in a PR time of 2:03.55, while Turco ran his PR of 2:14.01. Mark Dougherty had a great day, running personal bests in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters, while also throwing his season best in the javelin.
Irene Limlengco set a new school record in the 200 meters with a time of 27.39. She was followed closely by Victoria (27.54) and Sorice (28.13), who each posted PRs in the same event. Stephanie Gomes ran a personal best 21:37.73 in the 5k, while Caitlyn Dacosta and Katherine Fahey each set PRs in the 200 meters. Coulombe finished 6th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17:49. Meaghan Reddy ran her best time in the 1500 meters, posting a PR of 6:10.39.
The field events were led by Curtis Abram's record-setting javelin performance. Abram improved on last week's program record, by launching the javelin 163'11" and improving on his New England Division III qualifying performance.
Limlengco and Ariana Nelson each placed in the long jump with 6th place leaps of 4'10.25". Taylor Brown posted her season best discus throw and Doug Gillum set a PR for himself in the javelin.
