TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS OPEN 2010 SEASON WITH RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCES

DEDHAM, Mass. - The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Teams opened the 2010 season on a beautiful 70-degree day at Northeastern University's Husky Spring Open on Saturday. The Saints did not waste any time to make statements, as five school records fell throughout the day. The meet also featured four qualifying performances for the New England Division III Championships and numerous personal bests.
Junior Irene Limlengco (Brookline, MA) broke the program records in both the 100 meters and 200 meters with times of 13.19 and 27.52, respectively. Her time in the 100 meters qualified her for the New England Division III Championships. Limlengco teamed up with freshman Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, MA), sophomore Nacy Brandao (Dorchester, MA), and sophomore Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, CA) to set a new school record in the 4 X 100 meter relay, placing fourth with a time of 51.95 and qualifying for the New England Division III Championships.
Kulubya went on to break the program record in the 400 meters, placing tenth with a qualifying time of 62.03. Sophomore Brittany Sorice (Dover, NH) followed closely in the same race, running a personal best time of 62.74. Sophomore Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, RI) also had a strong start to the season, setting a new program record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.49.
Senior captain Doug Gillum (West Boylston, MA) broke the school record in the hammer with a throw of 76'8". Junior Ben Cleveland (Auburn, ME) finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 50.78 and qualifying for the New England Division III Championships. Junior Thomas Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, CT) finished eighth in the 110 meter hurdles, while sophomore Jordan Coulombe (Saco, ME) finished ninth in the same race and fifth in the high jump. Freshman James Ferdenzi (Holliston, MA) had a tenth place finish in the 100 meters with a personal best time of 11.60, and senior Sarah Soldano (Bethel, CT) finished fifth in the long jump.
Sophomore Gregory Brown (Norton, MA) threw a personal best in the discus, recording 98'3". Freshman Kyle Ford-Withrow (Boston, MA) made his collegiate debut with a throw of 88'8". Freshman Taylor Brown (Wakefield, MA) also competed in her first collegiate track meet on Saturday, waiting patiently until dark to compete in the discus. Due to time constraints she was only allowed one throw, recording 63'9". Victoria, Brandao, and freshman Jacqueline Lytle (North Reading, MA) had personal best performances in the 200 meters with respective times of 28.28, 28.74, and 29.08. Victoria and Brandao also recorded personal bests in the 100 meters, running 13.54 and 14.08, respectively. Junior Andrew Heath (Stanford, CT) ran a personal best time of 52.31 in the 400 meters, while sophomore John Hardacker (Cromwell, CT) also ran his best time in the same race.
