Tom Santa Maria joined the Emmanuel athletic staff in the summer of 2019 as an Assistant Coach for the Cross Country and Track & Field programs.

Santa Maria earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Cross in 2014 before completing a Masters program at Boston College in Theological Studies in 2016 as well as an M.A. in Renaissance Studies and History from Yale University in 2017.

At Holy Cross, Santa Maria was a member of the Track & Field program for four seasons. He earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll accolades every season and over his career competed in six different events which included the 400m, 500m, 800m, 1,000m, 1,500m and 1 Mile races. Santa Maria also participated in the Holy Cross Sports Leadership Academy while also serving as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Santa Maria served as a volunteer Assistant Track & Field Coach at Boston College from 2014 through 2016 and currently serves as the Head Coach for the Woburn Recreation Department Youth Track & Cross Country program.

In 2011, Santa Maria became USATF Level I Coaching Certified before earning a USATF Level II Certification in Sprints, Hurdles and Relays in 2016. He also holds a USATF National Level Official Certification and a USA Track & Field Level II Certification in Endurance.
