OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP
WESTON, MASS. - The Emmanuel College men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship on April 27th and 28th, where the women finished in second place only twelve points behind the winner Regis College, while the men finished in fourth place.

THE LEAD: The Emmanuel College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship on April 27th and 28th, where the women finished in second place only twelve points behind the winner Regis College, while the men finished in fourth place.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yet again, Caileigh Blackmer (Warwick, R.I.) broke her own school record in the hammer throw and won the event with a final mark of 41.34 meters, .68 meters better than her previous record from the Collier Invitational on April 20th.
- In the women's hurdle events, Jacquelyn Schneider (Weymouth, Mass.) won both the 100 meter and 400 meter events, breaking the school record in the 100 meter; teammate Amanda Jordan (Stoneham, Mass.) was right behind Schneider with a third place finish in the 400 meter, which was also a personal record.
- The Saints swept the high jump on the women's side with Jordan, Schneider and Lauren Sterling (Rumford, Maine) taking the first through third place finished respectively.
- The triple jump was another highlight for the team, with Jordan recording a personal record with a second place finish while Carly Jones (Lake Placid, N.Y.) was close behind with a fifth place finish.
- Moving along to the distance events, freshman Anna Cutrone (Newburyport, Mass.) was able to capture first place in the 10,000 meter run while classmate Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) finished in first place in both the 1500 meter run and the 5000 meter run, along with a second place finish in the 800 meter.
- The women finished a great event with a win in the 4x400 meter relay, ran by Haley Boisvert, Schneider, Jordan and Carolyn Richardson (Kenebunk, Maine).
- On the men's side, Trevor Hajj (Gilmanton, N.H.) broke the EC school record in the pole vault with a second place finish, along with a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles, and a fourth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles.
- Freshman Luke Elson (Ashaway, R.I) nabbed the first place finish in the 400 meter sprint with a final time of 52.54 seconds.
- The men also has a strong showing in the throwing events, with John Griffin (Thompson, Conn.) recording a new personal record in the hammer and Ameil Howell (Boston, Mass.) also setting a new record in the shot put.
- The men closed out the day with a distance personal record in the 10,000 meter run by Matthew Cronin and a team win in the 4x100 meter relay ran by Cameron Atherton (Rowley, Mass.), John Cavanaugh (Redding, Conn.), Elson and Hajj.
