CHAMENKO, PANGONIS BREAK SCHOOL RECORDS, FIVE SAINTS QUALIFY FOR NEW ENGLANDS

BOSTON, Mass. - Junior Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.) and senior Chloe Pangonis (Keene, N.H.) each broke a program record in their respective events as they led the Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field squads at the MIT Sean Collier Invite on Saturday. 

TOP PERFORMERS

Chamenko, running in the steeplechase, improved his own school record with a time of 10:01.96. His time was also good enough for second place overall in the event and qualified him for the New England DIII Championship.

Pangonis cut 11 seconds off of her previous personal best in the 1500m race with a time of 4:56.32, which broke Cathryn LaRivier's previous record in the event. The senior also teamed up with Katherine Holmberg, Nicole Varca, and Reilly Boyle to win the 4x800m relay in a New England DIII Championship qualifying time of 10:16.69. The mark also stands as the second-fastest in Emmanuel College history.

Junior Ashley Brooks also qualified for the New England DIII Championship by clearing 5'0.24" in the high jump, good for sixth place overall.

WOMEN'S RESULTS

Pangonis, Holmberg, and Mimi Duncan all posted personal bests in the 1500m. After Pangonis' school record, Holmberg clocked in at 5:14.71, while Duncan was eight seconds behind her, at 5:22.71.

Carly Jones ran a career-best in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 17.72 seconds.

Jordyn Gonsor finished the 400m event in a career-best 61.89 seconds and the 200m dash in 28.42 seconds.

Varca, Boyle, Duncan, and Megan Rockett all put up new personal bests in the 800m run.

In the discus, Stephanie Jarvis' toss of 50'7" was also a new personal record.

MEN'S RESULTS

Freshman Brandon Fitzpatrick continued his weekly improvement in the 1500m run, clocking in at 5:06.21. Classmate Jefferson Zannoni ran the 400m race in 56.05 seconds to post his own personal best. 

First-year runners Jake Schlaferman and Daniel LaChance both finished the 100m dash faster than they have before, posting times of 13.34 seconds and 13.74 seconds, respectively.

Dillon Roche hit 103'7" in the javelin for a new personal best.

Senior Corey Hebert crossed the finish line in 2:08.59 to record a new personal best.
