CHAMENKO QUALIFIES FOR NEW ENGLANDS AT PIONEER INVITE
BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College junior distance runner Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.) finished second overall and qualified for the New England Division III Track & Field Championship with a program record performance in the steeplechase at the Smith Pioneer Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Cameron Anderson (Watertown, Mass.) broke his own school record with a throw of 41'3.25" in the shotput. The distance was good enough to finish fourth overall in the event.
Four Saints earned top ten spots in the 100m hurdles event, all posting sub-18.00 times. Junior Katherine Zombik (Holyoke, Mass.) took third in 17.27 seconds, freshman Mary Nahorniak (Chicopee, Mass) claimed sixth in 17.48 seconds, and freshman Lauren Champigny (East Longmeadow, Mass.) edged out classmate Carly Jones (Lake Placid, N.Y.) for ninth and tenth place, respectively, at 17.72 and 17.74 seconds.
In the 400m dash, senior Zoe Pierce-Dickens (Franklin, Vt.) and freshman Jordyn Gonsor (Springfield, Mass.) placed fourth and fifth, crossing the line in 62.96 and 63.03 seconds, respectively. Gonsor's time was a new personal best.
Senior Chloe Pangonis (Keene, N.H.) also earned a top-five finish, hers coming in the 800m run after she finished the race in 2:28.05.
Junior Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 4'11.75".
Freshman Cara Welsh (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was the one Emmanuel thrower to place on the women's side, as she earned seventh in the discus with a personal best toss of 96'5".
Anderson followed up his record shotput performance with a personal best discus throw of 100'1", which was good for tenth place in the event.
Freshmen Brandon Fitzpatrick (Tewksbury, Mass.), Daniel LaChance (Raynham, Mass.), Jefferson Zannoni (Merrimack, N.H.), Jaxell Negron, and Jake Shlaferman (Chicopee, Mass.) all continue to progress in their debut seasons, as the group of five all posted personal bests in their respective events.
Sophomores Constantino Politis (Saugus, Mass.) and Francesco Albanese (Woburn, Mass.) put up career long distances in the shot put, and Politis also hit his new personal best in the discus.

Both squads head to New London, Conn. on Saturday, April 16 to participate in the Connecticut College Silfen Invite. The meet is schedule to begin a 9:00 a.m.
