INDOOR TRACK RACES AT WESLEYAN INVITATIONAL
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Emmanuel College indoor track & field squad competed over the weekend at the Wesleyan University Invitational. The men’s squad saw three individuals place in the top eight while the women’s team saw two runners finish in the top eight.
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Emmanuel College indoor track & field squad competed over the weekend at the Wesleyan University Invitational. The men's squad saw three individuals place in the top eight while the women's team saw two runners finish in the top eight.
On the men's side, Noah Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt.) continued to improve his times with a strong showing in the 5k race. He finished eighth overall with a PR time of 17:02.68. Junior Francisco Tavares (Boston, Mass.) also finished eighth in the 400m race with a time of 52.23 seconds. Senior Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.) rounded out the trio of top-8 finishes with a fifth place finish in the mile race, clocking in at 4:41.66.
For the women's team, junior Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Jordyn Gonsor (Springfield, Mass.) ran well in the 600m race. Gonsor clocked in a PR time of 1:46.11 for a fifth place finish while Varca was just behind her in eighth place with a time of 1:47.35.
The Saints saw several more PR's during the afternoon as Jacquelyn Schneider (Weymouth, Mass.) recorded a PR time of 10.74 seconds in the 60m hurdles as well as a new PR in the long jump with a leap of 15'2.75. Justin Scott (Woburn, Mass.) ran his best 1000m race with a time of 3:01.09. Other PR's in the field included a toss of 29'2.50" from Amie Knowles (Seabrook, N.H.) in the shot put. Also registering a shot put PR was Shannan Donahue (Manchester, N.H.) with a throw of 27'2.75". Christopher Rosario (Weymouth, Mass.) rounded out the EC athletes with new PR's with a toss of 24'7" in the shot put.
Emmanuel returns to action on Saturday, February 11 when they head across the river for the MIT Kelly Invite.
