SAINTS INDOOR TRACK COMPETES AT BENYON INVITATIONAL
BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field teams competed at the Smith College Benyon Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The women finished 11th out of 14 teams, and the men took ninth in their 12-team meet.

On the women's side, junior Katharine Zombik qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles event and placed seventh with a time of 10.34 seconds. Her classmate, Ashley Brooks, earned sixth place in the high jump, as she cleared 1.47m.
Senior Zoe Pierce-Dickens' time of 1:04.98 was good for a 13th-place finish in the 400m dash. Fellow senior Chloe Pangonis finished 11th of 28 runners in the 800m run, crossing the finish line in 2:29.82. Her time five seconds faster than Saints freshman Nicole Varca, who finished 14th in the event.
In the relays, the women's 4x200m relay team finished in third place with a team time of 1:55.53, and Emmanuel's 'A' flight took third in the 4x800m race, thanks to a 10:59.90 finishing time.
As for the men, freshman Francisco Tavares had another strong performance, as he took fourth place in the 400m dash (52.91s) and finished 16th of 49 in the 60m dash preliminaries (7.47s).
Junior distance runner Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.) grabbed eighth place in the 1000m run, as he posted a time of 2:44.00.
Next up for the Saints is the University of Southern Maine Invite on January 30.
